When Jesus Comes Like a Thief: Are You Ready?

Have you ever decided to let go of your usual routines at home, maybe it’s one of those lazy days where the house is just chaotic, with clothes on a chair, dishes in the sink, and things scattered everywhere? You’re just relaxing, not expecting anyone, then suddenly, there’s a knock on the door. You open it and find someone you really respect or didn’t expect to visit. In that moment, your heart sinks and you think, “Why today of all days?”

Or maybe you’ve had one of those days where you just decide to dress down, you’re not in the mood to fix your hair or put together a nice outfit. You just want to pop out quickly to the shop and come right back. But then, as fate would have it, you bump into someone you’d have loved to impress, and you instantly wish you’d made a little more effort!

I’ve actually been there.

And it reminded me of something powerful Jesus said that He will come when we least expect Him.
He’ll come like a thief in the night (Matthew 24:43–44). And as we all know, thieves never send a notice before they show up.

That means we can’t afford to put our faith on pause or take a “lazy day” when it comes to obedience and walking with God. There’s no room for spiritual slacking. Because when Jesus finally comes, there won’t be time to tidy up or “fix things.” Unlike those awkward moments with people, there will be no second chances, only the reality of whether we were ready or not.

This really challenged me, and I hope it does the same for you:
Let’s stay alert, stay faithful, and live every day like it could be the day we meet Him face-to-face.

God bless you.
