The Simple Joys We Often Miss

One of my favorite things about the evening is watching the sunset through my kitchen window as I prepare dinner or wash the dishes. There’s something calming about the golden light pouring in, marking the close of the day.

Some time back—I’m not quite sure which rainy season it was—my husband introduced me to the simple joy of watching the rain fall. And this season, I’ve found it especially captivating. Since we live on the third floor, we get a clear view of the raindrops as they fall through the air. It’s not about the sound of rain hitting the ground or droplets on the window—it’s just the sight of the rain mid-air, almost like a dance. There’s something deeply relaxing about it. Sometimes, we just stand and watch together, quietly enjoying the moment.

I truly believe nature was created not just for function, but for wonder. To remind us of God’s creativity and goodness. The rustling trees, the chirping birds, even the rhythm of people walking by—it’s all part of a bigger picture, one worth noticing.

So this weekend, I invite you to pause. Look around. Take a deep breath under a tree, listen to the birds sing, feel the breeze, or simply watch life unfold around you. God’s beauty is everywhere—you just have to slow down long enough to see it.

Psalm 19:1 (NIV)“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”
